of metal the crossing there was found to be too low, which
has now been raised on 6 inches cement concrete and makes an
improvement in the roadway.
22. An application was made to make up and take over " The
Avenue," of which plans and sections were prepared, but the
majority of the owners being against this, no further action was
taken.
23. The South Metropolitan Gas Company have laid the
following new Gas Mains during the year:—
An 18-inch main on the South side of Eltham Road from
Lee Green to Mottingham Road, to take the place of an
existing 10-inch main, which was removed.
A 12-inch main from Mottingham Road to Court Yard on
the North side of Eltham Road and High Street.
A 6-inch main from Victoria Road on the North side of
High Street as for the Reservoir gate and connected
to the 3-inch main that goes along the Bexley Road.
A 4-inch main from Victoria Road on the South side of
High Street and joining the 3-inch main in Southend
Road.
24. As the charges hitherto paid to the Board by the Gas
and Water Companies for repairs to roads, broken up by them,

schedules shewing the estimated cost of repairing the roads.
