ANTHRAX.
On 1st May, I received information respecting a case of Anthrax. The patient was
reported to have been at work on the s.s. " Mantua " in Tilbury Docks. On enquiries
being made it was ascertained that three days before being taken ill the patient had
handled skins.
On the 10th May another case of Anthrax was notified. The patient was at work
in the Millwall Dock, engaged in unloading the s.s. " Perm." On or about the
26th April the patient scratched his finger, and on the 7th May became ill and was
diagnosed as suffering with Anthrax.
He had handled bales of horse-hair, and the ship carried horses, but no information
is available that he had handled hides.
Both of these cases subsequently recovered.
LONDON (NOTIFICATION OF GLANDERS) ORDER, 1907.
On the 28th November, I received information respecting a case of glanders in a
horse at the London Dock.
All necessary measures of disinfection were carried out.
