the highest death rates, and in these parishes the areas which
formed the subject of the representation, thus:—

TABLE IX.

Death-rate per 1,000 estimated Population.

St. Clement Danes32.7523.831.6729.4
St. Mary-le-Strand39.2431.426.932.5

From the subjoined Table X, it will be seen that the average deathrate
in the Represented Area during the five years ending 1895 is
3771 per 1,000, being 13.6 above the average for the whole Strand
Sanitary District and 17.7 above that for all London. It also
exceeds the average rate for the southern part of the Strand
District by 9.7. Moreover, on an analysis of the population and
a comparison of the numbers who have died at each group of ages
with the numbers dying in the same periods in all London, it appears
that the actual number of deaths in the district are double the
number which ought to take place.
