The Asylums Board at once took steps to comply
with the first resolution. It will be noticed, in the subjoined
table, that the scarlet fever cases notified in
London, were considerably fewer in number than were
notified in either 1892, or 1893, but the epidemic in
1895, was confined to the latter half of the year, and
thus made itself felt more severely. The rate per 1,000
inhabitants, of cases of scarlet fever, was, London, 4.7
Strand, 4.6.
