During the year 434 expectant mothers attended the Clinic as
compared with 281 in 1941. This represents approximately 98 per
cent of the total notified births (live and still) which occurred in the.
Borough during 1942. The figures for 1941 are shown in the table
for comparison purposes.
POST-NATAL CLINIC.
Post-natal cases are seen as they present themselves at the antena'tal
clinic and it is estimated that about 24 per cent. of the cases
seen at the ante-natal sessions return for post-natal examinations
after their confinements.
The Medical Officers at the Clinic, and the Health Visitors, are
endeavouring to persuade the mothers to make more use of the PostNatal
facilities. When the percentage has increased sufficiently, it
is anticipated that a special Post-Natal Clinic will be- required
monthly.
CONSULTANT ANTE-NATAL AND POST-NATAL CLINIC.
The Consultant Clinic continued to be held throughout the year
on the third Friday in each month by Mr. Douglas Lindsay, M.D.,
Ch.B., F.R.F.P.S. (G.), M.C.O.G.

the same days as in previous years.
The following table shows the attendances for 1942 at the five
centres maintained by the Council, from which it will be seen there
has been a great all-round increase on the previous year.
