FOOD POISONING.
One authentic case of Food Poisoning came to our notice during
the year, the patient being removed to the Wandle Valley Joint Isolation
Hospital, where recovery took place.
NON-NOTIFIABLE DISEASES.
Returns from the local education authority keep the department
informed of the incidence of these diseases in children attending the
elementary schools. From this and other sources (although the information
so obtained may be an under-statement) it will be seen that
the incidence of the following diseases was relatively light during the
year:—
Measles 223
Mumps 156
Chicken-Pox 80
Whooping Cough 24
German Measles 8
TUBERCULOSIS.
There were 26 new cases notified during the year.

The annual case rate for Pulmonary Tuberculosis per 1,000 of
population for 1938 was 0.58 compared with 0.65 for 1937.
The annual case rate for Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis per 1,000
of population for 1938 was 0.26 compared with 0.13 for 1937.
The Registrar-General returns the number of deaths which
occurred from Tuberculosis in 1938 as 8.
