TUBERCULOSIS.
The treatment of cases of Tuberculosis is under the control of the
Surrey County Council, who provide both sanatorium and dispensary
treatment.
The two dispensaries available for residents of the Borough are
situated at Mitcham and Sutton, the sessions being held as follows:—
Mitcham (Western Road):—
First, third and fifth Tuesday of month at 1.30 p.m.
Each Thursday at 1 p.m. and fourth Thursday at 5.30 p.m.
Sutton (Public Hall, Church Road):—
Every Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Third Wednesday of month at 5.30 p.m.
IMMUNISATION ACAINST DIPHTHERIA.
The Council in May approved a scheme of immunisation whereby
patients could be treated by the Medical Officer of Health at his Town
Hall premises, free of charge.
Such treatment was commenced in November, when the laboratory
facilities became available.
No cases completed their treatment during the year under review,
but at the end of the year 12 patients were attending and will be
reported on in 1938.
SCHOOL CLINICS.
The local education authority is the Surrey County Council, who
provide the medical services for the school children of the Borough.
VENEREAL DISEASES CLINICS.
The Surrey County Council is the responsible authority for
Venereal Diseases in the area and is a member of the London and
Home Counties Scheme. The arrangements provide for the free
diagnosis and treatment of these diseases at the Croydon General
Hospital, at clinics established at the Royal Surrey County Hospital,
Guildford, at the East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, and at hospitals under
the London and Home Counties Scheme.
