Scheme 3.
The area comprised in Scheme 3, and known as the Goulston Street
Scheme, contains a population of about 2757. The deaths for the 5 years
ending 3rd October, 1874, were 338. The annual average death-rate per
1000 was 24.5. The deaths from epidemic diseases were 45; the same
being 133.1 per 1000 of the total deaths; and the deaths from scrofulous
diseases were 113, which is at the rate of 334.3 per 1000 of the total
deaths, and is 22.5 per cent. above the rate of mortality of the entire District
from these causes.
