Abatement 8
These figures do not include verbal notices often given with
regard to minor matters.
1 and 2, Church Road, Worcester Park.
Following representations concerning the condition of these
dwellings the Council made Closing Orders which prohibit their use for
human habitation.
Normally Demolition Orders would have been made but these ancient
cottages are scheduled under section 30 of the Town and Country Planning
Act, 1947 as buildings of special architectural and historic interest.
The owner of the premises occupied one dwelling and he was able
to obtain alternative accommodation and the occupants of the second
dwelling were rehoused by the Council.
16, Cleveland Road. New Maiden.
The Council made an Order for the demolition of the above house
which could not be repaired at a reasonable expense and the family was
rehoused by the Council.
The five year programme of dealing with unfit houses in the
Borough was completed and a survey conducted during the year indicated
that the condition of none of the houses justified demolition.
