SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
ANNUAL REPORT
of
THE SANITARY INSPECTOR
1947
Public Health Department,
Municipal Offices,
New Malden.
To the Mayor, Alderman and Councillors
of the Borough of Maiden and Coombe,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the pleasure to submit my twenty-eighth Annual
Report of work done and matters of interest concerning the
Sanitary department.
Although activities were restricted somewhat owing to the
concentration of effort in building new houses and the necessary
limitation of labour and supplies for ordinary repairs much
essential work has, however, been done and, in this respect,
close liaison with the licensing section of the Borough Engineer's
department has been maintained.
As Dr. Fanning your Medical officer of health will be
terminating his appointment early in the new year to take up
the position of deputy county medical officer of health for the
County of Surrey I may, perhaps, be permitted to record my
very happy association with him during the past seventeen
years. This took us through the trying period of the last world
war when extraordinary matters and services had to be attended
to and maintained and it has indeed been a privilege for me
to serve under his leadership.
For the purpose of abating nuisances or executing repairs
to houses, the following notices were served :—
Preliminary 289
Abatement 146
