DEATHS.
During the year 370 deaths were registered, an increase
of 18 over those recorded in 1945. With the increase of
population, however, the rate per 1,000 was lower, being 8.5
compared with an average of 11.5 for England and Wales.
The infantile mortality rate was 19.8 per 1,000 live births, a
remarkably low rate, comparing with a figure of 43 for
England and Wales. For the second year in succession there
was no deaths from maternal causes.
