deal of which was done after normal office hours or during
week-ends.
WATER SUPPLY.
The whole of the area is supplied by the Metropolitan Water
Board and the supply has been satisfactory both as regards
quality and quantity. In view of the large number of bacteriological
examinations known to be carried out by the Board it
was not considered necessary to make any local tests. All
dwelling-houses in the area are supplied by public water mains
direct to the houses.

During the year 110 samples were submitted to the Publie Analyst for analysis. These comprised of the following:—

One elementary school was disinfected during the year. A
number of books from the public library and schools were also
disinfected for a variety of reasons.
Twenty loads of bedding were removed for steam disinfection
or destruction, and three loads were dealt with otherwise.
In addition to the above, clothing, mattresses, blankets and
pillows from various posts, shelters, or emergency services were
disinfected or disinfested.
