GENERAL.
One case of enteric fever was reported. The infection
in this case was contracted on a cruise.
One case of acute poliomyelitis and one of pneumococcal
meningitis occurred. Both were fatal.
Facilities are available for the typing of pneumococci.
FOOD POISONING.
The law requiring the compulsory notification of
cases of food poisoning or suspected food poisoning came
into operation on 3rd October, 1939. Only one case was
reported, and this was probably one of sensitiveness or
allergy and not true food poisoning.
