SPORTS CLUBS, Etc.
The following have recently been established:—
Old Merchant Taylors' Sports Ground.
Situated between Kingston Lane and Udney Park
Road, occupying about thirteen acres.
It has three rugby football grounds, two cricket pitches,
and six tennis courts.
The six hard tennis courts are open to local residents,
who can also become season ticket holders of the Club,
with access to the ground throughout the year.
The Club has a membership of 500 to 600.
The Lensbury Social & Athletic Club.
Situated in Broom Road, occupying about 17½ acres,
with Club-house overlooking the river.
It has rugby and football pitches, cricket pitches,
tennis courts, and a bowling green.
The Club has a membership of nearly 2,000.
The Affiliated South American Banks Sports Club.
Old Broom Hall, Broom Road.
The Club is situated on the banks of the Thames,
occupying 14½ acres.
It has rugby and football pitches, cricket pitches, and
tennis courts.
The Club has a membership of about 500.
The Harlequins' Rugby Football Ground.
Situated in Fairfax Road, and occupying about 4 acres.
The Tamesis Sailing Club and the Royal Canoe Club
have their quarters at Teddington.
POPULATION.
The population for the year under consideration is
estimated by the Registrar General at 21,860.
There are about 5,015 inhabited houses in the district,
and it is estimated that the average number of persons per
house is 4.4.
