On the advice of the pathologist, titres of 1:16 and below were
regarded as negative.
Results of all the blood tests were notified to the patients and
their general practitioners, and the 28 women who were seronegative
were advised to approach their doctors for vaccination against rubella.
We are indebted to Dr. Fleck and his staff at the Public Health
Laboratory, St. George's Hospital, S.W.17, for undertaking examination
of the sera for antibody estimation.
Smallpox
From 28th July, 1971, on the advice of the Department of Health
and Social Security, vaccination against smallpox was deleted from the
schedule of recommended routine procedures in early childhood.
