The provision of treatment and investigation of Tuberculosis
is the responsibility of the Regional Hospital Board, the
County Council being responsible for the preventive side of the
work. Institutional treatment was provided for 141 persons in
1954 from Merton and Morden, as follows:—
At the County Sanatorium, Milford 23
At other Institutions 118
141
A table has been prepared which shows in comparison the
numbers of new cases for the past 10 years. The primary
infections are all cases occurring in the district. The total cases
include T.B. cases which have moved into the district and are
added to our registers. It will be seen from the table that the
number of primary notifications has fallen considerably, and
that for the first time on record the total number of persons on
the register at the end of the year shows a reduction as compared
with the previous year.
