The provision of treatment and investigation of Tuberculosis
is the responsibility of the Regional Hospital Board, the
County Council being responsible for the preventive side of the
work. Institutional treatment was provided for 153 persons in
1952 from Merton and Morden, as follows:—
At the County Sanatorium, Milford 21
At other Institutions 132

A table has been prepared which shows in comparison the
numbers of new cases for the past 10 years. The primary
infections are all cases occurring in the district. The total cases
include T.B. cases which have moved into the district and are
added to our registers.

The deaths from Tuberculosis during the year number 23,
of which 22 were due to pulmonary and 1 to non-pulmonary
disease. One of the deaths was an unnotified case.
