Hairdressers Establishments. In September, 1947, th:
Council adopted byelaws made pursuant to Section 125 of the
Surrey County Council Act, 1936 for the purpose of securing the
cleanliness of hairdressers' and barbers' shops and of the instruments,
towels and materials used in such premises.
Factories and Workplaces. The number of inspections made
to premises registered under the Factories Act, 1937, was 136.
Defects relating to sanitary conveniences, ventilation and other
sanitary matters were dealt with at seven premises. The table on
page 58 gives details of action taken during the year.
Water Supply. Four samples of water from domestic taps
were submitted for chemical or bacteriological examination. The
reports on each sample were satisfactory.
Water Courses. Sixty-eight inspections were made of the
water courses in the district, particularly of the River Wandle, and
