Acute Poliomyelitis. No case of Infantile Paralysis was
notified.
Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis. One case was notified in a
young adult male. He was removed to hospital and died
after three weeks illness.
Measles. 1938 was a "Measles" year in the London
District. The returns of the head teachers show that 403
cases occurred among school-children compared with 86 in
the year before. The disease is not notifiable in the Urban
District.
Five cases were admitted to hospital. None died of this
infection.
Whooping Cough. The incidence of this disease among
school-children according to the reports of the head teachers
was approximately half that in 1937. Forty-four cases were
reported against 81 in the year before.
Two children were admitted to hospital. There were no
deaths.
