Slum Clearance and Demolition
The rehousing of the tenants from Clearance Area No. 14 St. John's
Road involving 30 houses was completed during the year and the houses
demolished.
The Minister confirmed Clearance Order No. 17 Mill Lane in respect
of 8 houses and Clearance Order No. 24 Levetts Rents in respect of 8
houses referred to in the Report for 1960. By the end of the year all families
from these two areas had been rehoused and the properties demolished.
In July the Minister confirmed the Compulsory Purchase Order in
respect of Area No. 10 Orchard Hill comprising 11 houses, but the
rehousing will not take place until 1962.
