have taken steps for the abatement of overcrowding
Overcrowding
During the year 4 cases of overcrowding were found to exist and 10
cases were remedied, leaving 12 dwellings with 81 equivalent adults in
occupation overcrowded at the year end.
Of the 4 new instances of overcrowding, three familes were found to
be sharing accommodation with relatives.
The 10 cases of overcrowding remedied during the year were due to:—

Left the district 1
Removal of one or more occupants 4
Of the 12 dwellings remaining overcrowded at the end of the year 6
are owned by the L.C.C., 3 by Carshalton Urban District Council and 3
are privately owned.

It must be remembered that these figures represent the cases which
come to the notice of the department in the course of daily activities.
They do not purport to give the exact position in respect of overcrowding,
but as there has been no variation in the method of collecting them, they
are useful in indicating the trend of overcrowding.
