The following 8 samples were reported as adulterated or otherwise
irregular :
Bird's Nest Soup.
The Analyst queried the designation of this soup in view of the fact
that bird's nests were only used as a minor garnishing and were not an
important ingredient of the stock. The manufacturers stated that their
Bird's Nests Soup was made from an authentic Chinese recipe and that a
high proportion of edible bird's nest was dissolved during cooking. The
true nature of the soup was indicated by the list of ingredients on the label.
No action was taken.
