Ten samples analysed by the Public Analyst conformed to the statutory
standard for composition.
Ice Cream (Heat-treatment, etc.) Regulations, 1947-1952.
These regulations govern mainly the conditions under which ice cream
is manufactured. As there are no manufacturers in the district, the only
part of the regulations required to be operated are those requiring ice
cream—(a) to be stored at a temperature not exceeding 28°F. and (b)
protected from dirt, dust and contamination at all times, and utensils
brought into contact with ice cream during manufacture, storage and
distribution, to be thoroughly cleansed immediately after use and to be
kept clean at all times.
All shops handling ice cream are equipped with refrigerators capable
of maintaining a temperature below 28F°. and no infringement of the
above regulations was observed as a result of the routine visits of inspection.
Meat
Supervisory duties in connection with meat in the district are limited
to those related to its storage and exposure for sale, since there are no
slaughterhouses in the area.
The quantity of meat seized or suspected as unfit for human
consumption during the year was 9,425 lbs. 9 ozs.
