Employment Agencies
There are two employment agencies in the district. Both were visited
and found to be satisfactory.
Shops Act, 1950
There are 507 shop premises on the register and 3,159 inspections were
made during the year.
Preliminary notices were served with regard to fifteen infringements
of the statutory requirements, five for failure to exhibit appropriate notices,
three for condition of premises, six for sanitary accommodation and one
for Sunday Trading. Nine of the notices have been complied with.
Heating Appliances (Fireguards) Regulations, 1953
Thirty-four inspections were made under the Act. No infringements
were observed.
Merchandise Marks Act, 1926
The Public Health Inspectors are appointed duly authorised officers
for the purposes of this Act and continue to execute the provisions of its
orders on behalf of the Council.
Pet Animals Act, 1951
The number of premises licensed as pet shops remains the same at 6.
All were visited periodically and found to be satisfactory.
