Swimming Baths
The one swimming bath in the district was acquired by the Council
in 1953. Some difficulty was experienced during the past year in maintaining
an adequate degree of purity of the bath water owing to the strain
on its limited capacity and obsolescence of its chlorination plant. Steps
were accordingly taken to regulate the extent of user and to improve the
purification plant. At the end of the season considerable structural
alterations were also made with the object of improving the sanitary
and other arrangements.
Eight samples of water were submitted for bacteriological examination,
two of which were unsatisfactory and reflected the difficulties
referred to above. Samples taken subsequent to the remedial action
indicated showed that the plant was capable of maintaining the water
free from any bacterial contamination.
Offices
Twenty inspections of offices were made, but 110 action was necessary
