During the year the following 52 houses and flats were completed:

Council's Housing Scheme
The dwellings in the ownership of the Council at the year end
totalled 1,340 houses, flats and temporary bungalows.
In addition to the new houses and flats completed during the year and in course of erection, work continued or was commenced, on the following schemes:

The accommodation under requisition by the Council at 31st
December, 1953, comprised 125 premises providing accommodation for
186 families.
The outstanding approved applications for tenancies at the year
end totalled 1,655 which was unchanged from the figure twelve
months earlier.
