Meat and Other Foods.
All meat sold by retail is supplied from Ministry of Food depots
outside the district. As far as is known NO slaughtering took place
in the district and consequently no inspection of carcases was carried
out.
Ten other food substances were submitted for bacteriological
examination in connection with the investigation of suspected food
poisoning or following visible evidence of contamination by foreign
matter. Organisms of pathogenic significance were found in two, viz.,
ham and ham bones. These are referred to in that Section of the
Report dealing with food poisoning.
