Food and Drugs Act, 1938.
Following the passing of the Food and Drugs Act, 1938, steps
were taken during the latter part of the year which resulted in the
Council being made the Food and Drugs Authority early in 1940.

The following table shows the action taken m Carshalton under the Acts during the year by the Surrey County Council, which continued to exercise those functions until they were transferred to the District Council.

Bakehouses.
There are now five bakehouses in the district. All were visited on
several occasions and found to have complied with the requirements
in respect of periodical cleansing and whitewashing.
