The St. Helier District Nursing Association operates mostly
in the Merton and Morden section of the St. Helier Estate, but its
activities cover that part of the estate situated in Carshalton which
lies to the north of the Sutton By-Pass. One nurse is employed
for general nursing. No midwifery is undertaken. The following
figures, relating to the Carshalton portion of the Estate, for 1938,
have been kindly supplied by the Honorary Secretary :—

The district nurses attend the Council's clinics and co-ordination
of their work with the public services is thereby promoted.
Laboratory Facilities.
The Council has arrangements with the Lister Institute of
Preventive Medicine, Chelsea Bridge Road, S.W.I, and with Dr.
Deas, The Laboratory, Nelson Hospital, Merton, S.W. 19, for the
examination of pathological material in connection with infectious
disease, tuberculosis and puerperal pyrexia. These facilities are
provided for the use of practitioners free of cost.
