[Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Carshalton]

Non-Infectious Cases— Provision for removal of non-infectious
cases, made by the Carshalton, Beddington and Wallington Joint
Fire Protection and Ambulance Committee, was the same in 1937
as shown in the report for 1936, viz:—two fully equipped vehicles
housed at The Grove, Carshalton.
The fees for the use of the service are as follows:—
7s. 6d. For the removal of one patient from one address to another, both
within the joint District.
10s. 0d. For the removal of one patient from any address within the joint District
to an address within the Boroughs of Croydon, Sutton and Cheam
or Mitcham.
1s. 0d. From and including return to garage for all other journeys.
per mile.
The above charges to include, if necessary, the services of an attendant. A doctor
and one friend to be allowed to accompany the patient free of charge.

The following figures are in respect of the working of the service in both districts during the year:—

The greatest number of calls received and answered in one day
was 14, and out of a total of 1,436 cases, it was only necessary to
refer one case to other services.
The Beddington and Wallington Borough Council have given
notice to terminate the agreement in respect of the joint arrangement
on the 31st March, 1938, after which date it is anticipated
each district will make its own ambulance provision.
