The total number immunised since the inception of the scheme
is 24,540 which includes 15,687 persons 0-18 years of age. Oral
immunisation against poliomyelitis commenced early in 1962.
It was found unnecessary to carry on with evening sessions so
that immunisations are dealt with at the usual day clinics.
Enteric Fever
There were no cases of enteric fever during the year.
Diarrhcea and Enteritis Under Two Years of Age
No death was registered during the year.
Food Poisoning Outbreaks
There was one notified case in 1962. The cause was salmonella

Encephalitis Lethargica
There were no cases notified during the year.
Erysipelas
As in 1961 six cases were notified. One was removed to hospital.
Puerperal Pyrexia
There was one case of puerperal pyrexia during the year.
Pneumonia
Only three cases of primary pneumonia were notified during the
year. The number of deaths from all forms of pneumonia, some of
which are not notifiable, was 39, of which 18 were males and 21
females.
Meningococcal Infections
One case was notified during the year.
Influenza
As in 1961, there was only one death from influenza.
