The deaths from lung cancer in Mitcham have been fairly static
over the last seven years. As in England and Wales cancer of the
lung accounts for between one quarter and one third of all deaths
from cancer.
In the case of leukaemia the rate increased sharply in 1960 and
1961; but as the numbers are so relatively few, conclusions cannot be
drawn from this area alone.
