Vaccination against Smallpox
The percentage of children under one year year of age vaccinated against smallpox fell
from 71.3% to 43.7% since my last Report.
The following table records the number of persons known to have been vaccinated or re-vaccinated during the year by general practitioners and clinic medical officers:-

Immunisation against Biphtheria Tetanus and Whooping Cough
The scheme for immunising children against diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus using a
triple antigen proved very successful during 1960 which was the first year of its operation. It
has called for very careful programming to fit in with other prophylactic measures and the parents
of all children in the area have been offered appointments as soon as their children have reached
the age of two months. There is provision for following up defaulters to achieve maximum
acceptance rates. Parents have the option of taking the in children to their own family doctors for immunisation or attending at the clinics, and the following tables show the results:
