70 applications from retail purveyors were received during the year
for registration under the Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops Order, 1885,
and Miik and Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922. These were acceded to.
There are at present upon the register, 175 retail purveyors of milk.
The Milk and Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922, gave additional
powers to the Council enabling them to refuse to register purveyors of
milk where satisfactory arrangements have not been made in relation to the
quality, storage and distribution of milk. Advantage was taken of the
section to have various improvements effected in the premises of certain
vendors of milk in the area. Registration was with-held in respect of
certain individuals until our requirements had bean complied with, and
in one instance the purveyor was struck off the Register altogether.
