Social Work and Domiciliary Visiting
Work with the disabled in their own homes is largely the
responsibility of two specialist Social Welfare Officers. Visits are
also paid by our Occupational Therapists who are also concerned with the
Work Centre described in the preceding paragraph. Case loads are high
and it is hoped to improve routine visiting to handicapped persons
by altering the case loads of Social Welfare Officers generally to include all
handicapped persons within his or har area. The need for specialist
visiting will continue but will be confined to those most needing specialised
case work. Case loads remain high and the amount of routine visiting through
the year is barely adequate to meet the need.
