SHOPS
There are 1,839 shop premises on the register and inspections were made
during the year under the Shops Act, 1950, and the Offices, Shops and Railway
Premises Act, 1963.

During the year 267 premises were registered in accordance with the Act,
making the total number 1,675.
The number of persons employed in the classes of premises as reported to the Minister of Labour at the end of the year is as follows

One application for exemption in respect of sanitary accommodation and
washing facilities was granted, and in one case legal proceedings were taken
against the occupier of premises for failure to provide washing facilities. A
fine of £25 was imposed.
