Smoke Abatement and Atmospheric Pollution
There are but few industrial chimneys in the Borough.
Eight complaints of smoke emission were received and dealt with during
the year, seven of these were in respect of bonfires, and one from industrial
plants.
Grit Deposit Measuring Gauges
In conjunction and with the co-operation of the Department of Scientific
and Industrial Research, the grit deposit measuring gauges have been
maintained and samples collected monthly for analytical examination.
The Borough is adequately covered by three grit deposit gauges which
are sited roughly 1½ miles apart.
