(e) Regulation 26 as amended makes it clear that food transport and
delivery vehicles have to be kept clean and in good condition, and
suitably and sufficiently lighted when being cleaned. A proviso has been
added to permit the driving compartment of a stall or vehicle to be used
as a sleeping place if it is effectively separated from the food compartment.

During the year 1510 visits were made to food business premises, 58 notices were served in connection with the 83 infringements discovered as detailed in the following table;-

It is gratifying to record that the majority of the traders continue to
show a willing co-operation to comply with the requirements of the
Regulations. Mention must also be made that the standard of hygiene in
the various food premises and the cleanliness of the persons engaged in
the handling of food is much improved, but constant vigilance is necessary.
