6. Housing Act, 1957 - Section 157
(A) 125, 127, 129, 131 and 131a, Cheam Common Road and
Nos. 1,3,5 and 7 Woodbine Lane, Worcester Park
The acquisition for housing purposes of the freehold interest in these
properties has recently been completed and No. 7 Woodbine Lane acquired,
subject to a leasehold interest expiring in October, 1964.
As the housing development will necessitate the demolition of part of
these leasehold premises the District Valuer is in negotiation for the
acquisition of the leasehold interest.
(B) 5, 7, 9 and 11 Wilcox Road, Sutton
The Borough Council agreed in January, 1961 that this property be
purchased in connection with the comprehensive redevelopment of the area
in which they are situated and alternative accommodation to be offered to
the occupants as and when available, and further that the site after purchase
be used as a temporary public car park until required for redevelopment.

These figures are based on the known cases of statutory overcrowding,
and are obtained from cases discovered during routine inspections of
dwellings, applications made for Council housing accommodation, and on
information received in the Department, all of which have been checked by
your Inspectorial Staff at the year-end.
During the year 283 visits were made to dwelling-houses in respect of
overcrowding enquiries and permitted number of occupants.
