Samples of the raw and treated waters are examined daily by the
laboratory at the Sutton Works Samples are also examined at monthly
intervals by the Company's Consultant Analyst, and copies of his reports
are received Twenty four bacteriological and twelve chemical samples
are taken annually by five Distract Councils in the area of supply (two
bacteriological and one chemical per month, in rotation) All samples
were satisfactory.
The supply from all sources has been satisfactory in quality and
quantity.
No action was necessary in respect of contamination during the year.
All the dwelling houses have a direct supply from the public ntains,
as follows
(a) Twenty five thousand, seven hundred and forty nine houses, with a
population of seventy seven thousand, nine hundred and seventy, are
supplied to a tap directly into the house
(b) Five houses, with a population of ten, are supplied by stand-pipes.
The Sutton District Water Company supply twenty five thousand,
three hundred and ten dwellings, and the remaining four hundred and forty
four dwellings are supplied by the Metropolitan Water Board.
