(2) Treatments for year 1960/61
In September 1960 the Public Health Department resumed routine
duties on the control of rats in all sewers within the Borough.
The work commenced with the test baiting of 181 selected manholes
in the Borough including the two areas already dealt with by the Ministry.
The result of this test revealed that 38 manholes were infested with
rats.
The first maintenance treatment 1960/61 (Treatment No. 27) was
commenced on the 21st November, 1960 and continued until the 14th
December, 1960.
The anticoagulant poison Warfarin 0.5% Master Mix was used with
pin head oatmeal, technical white oil, castor sugar and para-nitrophenol
(mould inhibitor) as a base.
The results achieved were very encouraging, rebaiting and reexamination
of manholes taking place until all rats had been exterminated.

The following is a summary of the results obtained by treatments carried out by the Sutton and Cheam Public Health Department Staff during September/December, 1960.
