Number of houses treated with insecticide for bed bugs and fleas1136

The insecticides used were D.D.T. Municipal Spray and
Gammexane Liquid Spray.
SHOPS ACT, 1934.
369 visits were made to various types of premises in
connection with Section 10 of the Shops Act, 1934. The
arrangements made for the health and comfort of the shop
workers are generally satisfactory.
The co-operation of the various traders is reflected in
the number of sanitary improvements carried out without
having to take formal action.
HAIRDRESSERS AND BARBERS PREMISES.
Seventy-three inspections were made, and revealed that
the majority of the premises are well conducted and generally
satisfactory.
In thirteen cases minor infringements of the byelaws
were discovered and rectified.
LICENCED PLACES OF PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT.
There are nineteen licenced places of public entertainment
in the district. These are mainly used for cinematograph
shows, concerts, dancing and social functions.
The sanitary arrangements have been inspected and a
relatively good standard of cleanliness found to exist.
