Sampling Observations.
Of the total samples taken during the year 2.13 per cent.
were found to be other than genuine. This percentage figure
excludes informal samples repeated formally. The percentage
for 1948 was 4.97.
Labelling infringements in some form or another were
found in only 0.85 per cent. of the total samples. The
percentage for 1948 was 2.26.
A most gratifying feature of the year's sampling is
reflected in the fact that observations and infringements reported
upon by the Public Analyst were mostly of a minor
character.
General Observations by the Public Analyst.
