A satisfactory numerical standard of sampling was again
maintained.
Of the total samples 5.88% were found to be adulterated
or carrying misleading labels.
One prosecution for the sale of Whisky 39.4 degrees
under proof was instituted with the result that the defendant
licensee was fined £5 and the actual seller (the barmaid)
discharged under the Probation of Offenders' Act.
MILK SUPPiy
There are 12 dairymen and 15 retail purveyors of milk in
the district. Two persons whose premises are outside the
district are also registered as retail purveyors. Routine
inspection of premises has again revealed that the provisions of
the Milk and Dairies Order, 1926, have been generally well
observed.
Under the Ministry of Food Milk Rationalisation Scheme
the number of premises from v/hich milk is sold continues to be
considerably reduced.
