OUTWORKERS
If a factory employs persons to carry out certain specified works in their own homes the
details must be notified by the factory to the local authority in whose area the factory is situated.
That local authority must in turn notify any other local authority in whose area the employed
person resides.
This type of work is generally referred to as home work but the persons so employed are
known as out-workers.
No notifications were received from factories situated in this Borough but notifications of
178 persons employed as out-workers by factories outside the Borough were received. 175 homes
at which this work is carried out were inspected, no contraventions of the Act or other matters
needing attention were recorded.
