Twenty-three premises selling oil heaters were visited during the year. None of the heaters
examined was found to be in contravention of the Regulations.
NIGHTDRESS REGULATIONS, 1967
No contraventions of the above mentioned Regulations were observed during 1968.
Ladies disposable nightdresses are now on sale in the Borough; these nightdresses were found
to carry the statutory warning label about flammability.
RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES ACT, 1960
Eleven premises within the Borough are registered by the Minister of Housing and Local Government
for the storage and use of radioactive material. Copies of the registration Certificates and of
any other matters arising therefrom are sent to this Authority.
During the year the Ministry informed the Council of an accidental discharge of radioactive
material from one factory and stated they had asked for improved supervision and for better warning
and preventative measures. The Ministry were fully satisfied that there was no hazard as a result of
this discharge.
