Slaughterhouse
During the year considerable structural work has been carried out in the slaughterhouse and
lairages and as a result conditions are much improved.
Poultry Inspection
One major poultry processing establishment continues to operate in the district. Very few birds are
killed at the premises except during the Christmas period; usually poultry are killed and plucked elsewhere
and brought into the Borough for evisceration, packing, freezing, etc. As a result 100% inspection
is neither possible nor necessary. General surveillance is exercised by regular visiting of the premises.
