WELL WOMEN'S CLINICS
The cervical cytology service commenced in September, 1966. This service proved popular, and in
January, 1967, the size of one of the original clinics was doubled by using two doctors in the team. In
July another session was started at Yiewsley Clinic. Soon after this there was a fall in demand, especially
from women over 35 years of age, and the lower age limit was removed. Thereafter the demand increased
again and remained steady, with an average waiting period for appointment of 4-8 weeks, depending
on the clinic.
