Disposal of Condemned Food
Meat condemned at the slaughterhouse is stained and despatched to a by-products factory. All
other food is disposed of at the controlled tip operated by the Greater London Council.
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933-1958
During the year four licences were issued to slaughtermen. No contraventions were observed.
Diseases of Animals Act, 1950
In addition to the dairy farms, there are 42 piggeries. The surveillance of stock moved into the
area under the Movement of Swine Order is carried out by the Council's veterinary officer except when
animals are destined for the local slaughterhouse, or requiring a further movement licence for the
purpose of removal to the slaughterhouse.
There are within the Borough 36 licensed boiling plants.
Number of Movement Licences received 344
Number of Movement Licences issued 32
No cases of notifiable disease occurred within the Borough.

Unsound Food

The total amount of food surrendered for destruction during the year was 13 tons 5 cwt. 108 lb. This includes food condemned at No. ll.L Buffer Depot, Harmondsworth, which closed down during the year, but not foods surrendered at London Airport.
