Sample No. 184 : Hot Sweets.
A sample of Hot Sweets, purchased on the 24th November,
1955, was found to be impregnated with a pepper extract which, in
the opinion of the Public Analyst, was liable to cause irritation and
blistering of the mouth. No further stocks were held by the Vandors,
and a report from the Manufacturers stated that they had used
a new supply of pepper extract which had unfortunately proved too
pungent. They had since carefully controlled the manufacture of
the sweets, and a later sample proved satisfactory on examination.
